Welcome To Rockville Bands on the Rise
Well, Day 1 at Welcome To Rockville is in the books, and as I get ready for another day in the sweltering fields of Metropolitan Park, I thought I’d squeeze in a quick post on three of the smaller acts from Day 1 who caught my attention. There were some monstrous performances from bands you would expect, but these three acts are new on my radar, but three bands I will make sure to see again.
This Nashville trio delivered a soulful, powerful set that just reeked of old school rock ‘n’ roll swagger. They part Midwest, part redneck and 100% passionate rock ‘n roll. They’ve got a new album coming out next week, and judging by the sweet cuts we heard at Rockville, they’ve got a bright future. (We will be publishing an interview with the band this week, too)
There’s something special happening in Sweden these days, as every band I see from the country is fun, engaging and talented. Add one more band to the list. This quartet killed it on stage with a incendiary set and fun banter with the crowd. Royal Republic have been toiling in their homeland for seven years, and made a great impression on this, their first show in the United States.
Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes
Damn. These London punk rockers killed it. Carter is a madman on stage and brings classic punk rock back with mad fervor. He was all over the stage and in the crowd, including doing a hand stand atop the eager fans. Loved the retro punk feel with a modern twist and can’t wait to see these guys in a cozy venue.
