Fan’s Warped Tour – Lineup

While attending the Van’s Warped Tour national lineup reveal early this week, I realized how this legendary tour has truly grown into  a Fan-focused event for the dedicated, passionate members of the Warped Tour family. So, for this article, we’ll take a quick look at the “Fan’s Warped Tour.”

Before the show, we asked a handful of the guests in attendance why they had traveled out to Full Sail University to see a concert announcement? Sure, the promoters promised a chance to see a few of the bands perform live, but the visitors had no idea who would be taking the stage.  Yet, every one of them was stoked to be there.

  • Shayla Munoz, 19, of Orlando: “Vans Warped Tour is an awesome event where you just get to show who you are. It’s amazing. I’m here tonight because I love the Warped Tour.”
  • Melissa Torres, 22, from Atlanta and a Full Sail student: “I’ve been to five Warped Tours. I came here because I love Warped Tour and I’m excited to find out the full lineup… I like how dirty it gets, how raw, to be there with sweaty people who love rock music…”
  • Austin Dreen, 21, Winter Haven was there because his friend Shauna Ray from Ocala won tickets. “I’m just here because I’m hoping the bands I like will be here today, one in particular is Motionless In White.” Dreen will need to wait for July 1st on the Orlando stop to catch them live.  Ray was there hoping to see Ocala’s Wage War – she got her wish…

Beat reporter Luc Labreche gauged the audience reaction as each stage lineup was revealed.  Here’s his unofficial ranking of the most popular acts announced based on the volume and pitch of the screams from the audience.

  • Monster Party Zone Stages: Bullet For My Valentine, Crown The Empire, Motionless In White and Word Alive.
  • Journey’s Left Foot Stage: Yellowcard and Sum 41
  • Journey’s Right Foot Stage: May Day Parade, Real Friends, Sleeping with Sirens, State Champs
  • Poseidon Stage: Emarosa, I See Stars
  • Cyclops Stage: Chunk! No Captain Chunk, Ghost town
  • Full Sail Stage: Broadside, Dash Ten, Say We Can fly

And finally we checked in with a few folks from the Vans Warped Tour fan page which you should join here: Vans Warped Tour Forever

  • Rebecca Nichols from New Haven, CT: I’m most excited about Emarosa, Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills and my absolute favorite is Issues
  • Kelli Cannon of Oshkosh, Wisconsin: I’m super excited for Issues, Falling In Reverse and Waterparks
  • Then, there’s me. You all care about my opinion, right? Well. I’m an old school guy, so for me, I can’t wait to see Reel Big Fish, Good Charlotte and Sum 41 again.

The cool thing about all of these views? Almost every person listed bands that no one else had come up with before them. That’s one of the beautiful aspects of this festival, there are so many diverse options, that any fan of rock music will come away from the event thoroughly satisfied with their favorites, and at the same time, will surely leave the event with a few new favorites.

Let me end this with a nice shout out to Kevin Lyman and the Vans Warped Tour team, to Full Sail University, and especially Mike Cubillos and the fine folks at Earshot Media, who did a great job with this event right here in our Orlando backyard.
