Jacksonville’s The Big Ticket has established itself as Florida’s premiere Alt-Rock music festival, and this year’s lineup boasts an impressive buffet of fantastic live acts who always deliver top-notch shows.
Earlier this summer, we provided our list of can’t miss bands touring this summer – two of the bands atop that list, Twenty-One Pilots and Of Monsters And Men, just happen to be the two headliners for this year’s event. Joining them on Jacksonville’s Metropolitan Park stages are The Neighbourhood, who are another incredible live act, and Walk The Moon, one of the hottest names in Alternative Rock this year. All of the bands are prominently featured on the airwaves of sponsoring station X102.9 out of Jacksonville.
Tickets for the December 6th full-day event are on sale now, at the Big Ticket website. This is without a doubt the best live music bargain of the year with tickets priced below $45 (military is only $30), and as a veteran of a few of these events in prior years, I can assure you that it’s an incredibly well run event that gets better every year.
Refreshingly, there are no long-established veteran acts on the agenda this year. I love the fact that this year’s event is solely focused on newer acts boasting fresh new rock sounds and tremendously compelling live sets. These bands are the future of Alt-rock and the line-up is dominated by bands with bright futures.
I’m also excited to see Glass Animals, Andrew McMahon In The WIlderness, Borns, Mutemath and Robert Delong, and expect that I’ll also discover a new band or two who are destined for big things, just as I did with The Neighborhood, Of Monsters and Men and Twenty-one Pilots in years past at The Big Ticket. This festival has a nice track record of unearthing some supremely talented artists.
