The Boss, The River and The E Street Band

Bruce Springsteen has announced an intriguing new tour kicking off this Winter in Pittsburgh. Two things that make this one special are the fact that this will be a full E Street Band affair, and that the tour is titled The River Tour.

Unfortunately, it’s not yet clear whether that means Springsteen will be playing the double album in its entirety. We can only hope so, as that album is his best and one of the Top 25 ever, according to our own Cretin (read the article here). My guess is that we hear a lot of the music plus a copious amount of outtakes as Springsteen supports The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, which is a 50 song reissue of the 1980 masterpiece.

Def Leppard Brings New Song/Tour to Orlando

This is a classic rock show absolutely worth seeing. Def Leppard will be playing Orlando’s Amway Center on Saturday, January 30th in support of their recently announced new studio album. They’ll be joined by Styx and Tesla, making this an excellent triple bill.
And unlike so many classic bands touring today with tenuous links to the line-ups from their glory days – these line-ups are laced with original members!

Their new single, “Dangerous”

Milky Chance Riding Wave of Success

Milky Chance Announce New Album Details

We’ve all heard their captivating, addictive single “Stolen Dance” (you do read our song of the week posts, right?); now this uniquely talented German duo is riding that success as they announce their first stateside mini-tour and their debut full-length release. (If you don’t already check out our Song of the Week posts Follow Us on Twitter / Facebook, and check them out here: Fresh Music.)

The long-awaited full-length hits the streets on vinyl on September 30th and digitally on October 14th. The album titled Sadnecessary is now available for pre-order (below). The band has generated tremendous buzz both with critics and the masses, as the success of “Stolen Dance” has exploded. You can check out our choice for the Song of Summer 2104 below – and while you are there notice that the video already has 60 million Youtube views.

The song is apparently also quite the rage within the music community. Here’s one of our RARAs’ Farm favorites, Imagine Dragons taking their spin on a recent night in Germany. Lower quality recording with about 60 million less views, but pretty damn cool, nonetheless.

In addition to the album release, Milky Chance quickly sold out a three stop mini tour later this year, their first in the States. The shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom [October 13], Toronto’s Virgin Mobile Mod Club [October 16], and Los Angeles’s Troubadour on [October 20] sold out within minutes. We can expect a more robust North American tour early next year.

In the mean time, pre-order the album here:

Lacuna Coil Announce US and Canada Tour

Lacuna Coil Tour Announcement

Make sure you Like Us and Follow Us for continued rock music news, reviews and announcements.

Our favorite Italian goth rockers, Lacuna Coil have just announced their upcoming tour plans for North America. Fronted by talented, versatile boy/girl vocalists Andrea Ferro and Cristina Scabbia they offer a unique blend of rock that translates into a powerful, energetic live show. The veteran rockers are definitely worth seeing live.  The dates released today include three Florida dates including two nights in Jacksonville before closing the tour in Orlando.

Here’s a quick glimpse of our recent concert review for the band: Lacuna Coil – caught the end of their set, and quickly wished I had seen the whole thing. Goth metal with underlying catchy melodies.   Christina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro nicely traded off girl-boy lead vocals and sounded strong.

Crosby, Stills and Nash Announce Summer Tour

CSN 2014 Tour Announcement

This trio is rock royalty, and we in Florida will have the opportunity to see them live at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre this August.  They’ve toured on an off for nearly five decades, ever since their stunning breakthrough at a little festival in New York, Woodstock.

I’ve seen the trio recently, and their collective voice is still stirring, passionate and captivating. Personally, I’d prefer if “Y” was touring with “CSN” but this is a can’t miss event for any fans of rock music.

Like our Facebook page to the upper right or Follow our Twitter for additional updates.

More info from the press release is provided below:

ORLANDO, FLORIDA [April 15, 2014] On the heels of their sold out March 2014 tour, David CrosbyStephen Stills and Graham Nash unite as “three together” and announced their U.S. summer tour dates. The group will perform songs from their extensive catalog, as well as new material from each member. CrosbyStills & Nash perform on August 7 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 9 at 10 a.m.

CrosbyStills & Nash (CSN) are accompanied by its backing band featuring: Shane Fontayne (guitar), Steve DiStanislao (drums), Kevin McCormick (bass), James Raymond (keyboards), and Todd Caldwell (organ).  CSN perform amid a full slate of side and solo projects including:

  • Crosby undertakes a sold out solo tour in the U.S. in April in support of “Croz,” his first solo release in 20 years, five sold out shows at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, and two sold out shows at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The album was released on January 28 on Blue Castle Records, the label Crosby and Nash founded in 2011, and debuted at #36 on the Billboard 200 chart.
  • Stills announced a 17-date solo tour, which starts May 8 in Santa Cruz, CA and ends on June 3 in Tucson, AZ.  He recently toured solo and with The Rides, his blues-rock trio with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Barry Goldberg; their album “Can’t Get Enough” was released last summer. “Carry On,” a four-CD box chronicling Stills’ career—produced by Nash and Joel Bernstein—also came out in 2013.
  • Nash recently wrapped a solo tour—followed by an ongoing book tour for his long-awaited autobiography “Wild Tales; A Rock & Roll Life,” published last September by Crown Publishing Group. He will be performing two solo shows at the brand new City Winery in Napa, CA on April 29 and 30. Nash also exhibited      his artwork and photography throughout 2013.

It has been more than four decades since CSN first harmonized in Laurel Canyon, and played its first-ever concert as a trio at the legendary Woodstock festival. Its members continue a creative partnership that is one of the most influential and enduring in music.  CSN have each been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—with Crosby, Stills Nash, and a second time with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies, respectively. They are also in the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame; honored both for CSN as a group, and as individual, solo artists.

This summer, CrosbyStills & Nash are donating $1 per ticket sold to charity (excluding VIP and special benefit seat packages through their official website). Details and complete tour schedule are available at www.crosbystillsnash.com.  Special benefit seats are available through www.guacfund.org. Pre-sale tickets are available through the official website at www.crosbystillsnash.com.
