Last week we revealed our 2015 Songs of the Year, and this week we go a little bigger, with the 2015 Rock Albums of the Year. The music industry is changing and great albums are simply becoming more difficult to discover. But, thanks to a nice year of Indie Rock contributions, I came up with a good list of albums that I feel defined the year. Take a look and see if you agree.
The hugely successful NOW series has just announced their first-ever Rock Compilation which is set for release on Friday, January 22nd. The curators did a nice job delivering a diverse cross-section of rock music for this excellent collection. Click to see who made the cut on this historic album.
It’s been an interesting year for rock music. Lots of excellent new music in the Indie and Alternative universe, but Active Rock seemed to be taken over by non-melodic screaming music which to me just isn’t music to my ears. So, as you will soon discover, this year’s list definitely leans to the Alternative side.
Nathaniel Rateliff has turned over a new leaf, an interesting and dynamic new direction for his career, and the result is 40 minutes of aural bliss for his listeners. The music is distinctive, energetic and fresh, and a welcome flashback to halcyon days when R&B was making that magical crossover to rock ‘n roll.
