Motley Crue’s Final Tour and Some Free Music

The bad boys of California rock are headed “Home Sweet Home” for their last ever live show.

Earlier today, Motley Crue announced the final leg of their much publicized Final Tour. After signing a formal agreement to end their touring (an idea that is actually kind of appealing these days), they’ve meandered around the world for a year, raking in buckets of cash. But now with bank accounts sufficiently augmented, the end date has been clarified.

They’ll close the tour in their hometown of Los Angeles, on New Years Eve at The Staples Center – that’s pretty damn cool, and made even better by the fact that the four original members will all be together for the last time in the city where it all started. The band will be celebrating the big announcement with a performance on The Tonight Show this Thursday.

“In some of the cities, we could only reach a fraction of the fans who wanted to come see us play last year because of ticket demand so we’re coming back to those places to bring them our full production including the Crüecifly drum coaster, as well as all pyro and every other bell and whistle. Even despite the overwhelming fan demand we can only add so many new cities in North America because of our commitment to take the Final Tour global on our final year.” says Nikki Sixx. Legendary rocker Alice Cooper will be opening shows on the tour.

See the full listing of tour dates below.

Audiences can also expect a high-energy performance from very special guest Alice Cooper, who joined the band for the Final Tour in 2014. He will be tearing up the stage for crowds across North America once again. The pairing has been roundly praised as a must-see by fans and media alike.

To give back to the fans for their support over the years, Mötley Crüe will give away their best selling GREATEST HITS album for free in partnership with Google Play for one week only beginning at 12PM PST today. Download the album through Tuesday, 1/27 here: http://goo.gl/3hg3Qw. The compilation album includes classic hits like “Dr. Feelgood,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Kickstart My Heart.”

Radio Review – Hair Nation

Tractor Tunes are our 30 minute radio station reviews. So, grab a Schlitz, slide on your headphones, hop on the tractor, and decide if this one is for you…

Sirius XM’s Hair Nation, Channel 39

Hair Nation features “Hair Bands” from the 1980’s, in fact their slogan is “Vintage Rock From the Big Hair Eighties.”

It seems that every time I tune to this commercial-free Sirius XM station, I hear Bon Jovi, Motley Crue and Poison, but they do spread the wealth and dig a little deeper into the album cuts.  It’s definitely not non-stop “Blaze of Glory,” “Dr. Feelgood” and “Every Rose Has a Thorn.” You’ll notice in the playlist below that they played one of my favorite, and under-appreciated Poison tunes.  It’s a good mix between the hits and the rest of the stuff, but the songs really are hit or miss.

In my opinion, there’s really not enough good hair band music to justify a dedicated full-time station. It would probably be better suited for a recurring weekend show, or special holiday weekend special.

  • Poison – Cry Tough
  • Dangerous Boys – Teasin’ and Pleasin’
  • White Snake – Here I Go Again
  • Badlands – My Last Time
  • Bon Jovi – I’ll Be There For You
  • Cinderella – Push Push
  • Motley Crue – Primal Stream
  • Faster Pussycat – Babylon
