SOTD: Ireland’s Picture This

Picture This – “95”

A few weeks ago as we toured through Ireland, RTE2-FM frequently featured a Kildare band on the cusp of big things.  That band, Picture This is about to release their first full-length, and they’ve already sold out impressive venues on the Emerald Isle. With a new album on the way, they will soon be headed out on their first headlining tour of the United States and they are destined for big things.

U2 Croke Park Review – Dublin

U2 Croke Park Review: Tonight, we can be as one

U2 just might be my favorite band.  They were the first “new” band to catch my attention as a young rock fan hooked on classic rock. And, over the last 35 years, I’ve seen them a handful of times, including some of the most memorable shows of my life.  I’m also a bit of a closet Irish Republican, and early U2 had a special place in my heart.

Catchy New Music from Ivy Nations

I’ve got a bunch of Irish blood pouring through my Guinness clogged veins, so I’m always excited to preview new music from the Emerald Isle. While Ivy Nations is indeed an Irish rock band, they certainly don’t fit the image of gritty brawling rockers (think The Pogues and Thin Lizzy), but their new music is still quite compelling.

Buffalo Sunn – Releases New Music

New Music with a Classic Rock Vibe

Scotland’s Buffalo Sunn has released a captivating new single with a decidedly old school feel. It’s definitely a song worth a listen or twelve…

“Ocean” is a delicious new alternative rocker with distinct 60’s classic rock influences. The six-piece outfit from Dublin, Ireland boasts a unique feel that’s both old and comfortable, and fresh and new at the same time.

The song is the first single off of their new album By The Ocean, By The Sea, nicely produced by Grammy Award winner Pat McCarthy (U2, Counting Crows, R.E.M.).  The track features luscious harmonies, catchy guitar riffs and just a bit of well-balanced distortion. It’s garage rock meets theatre rock – a hopeful song with intoxicating guitars and drums and it’s just a blast to listen to.

The music seems like it will translate nicely in a live setting, but for now, if you’re not in Europe you are out of luck. Hopefully the song will find its way to US radio and the band will make their way over to the States.
