Gasparilla Music Festival Line-up

Exploring the Gasparilla Music Festival Line-up

Gasparilla Music Festival March 10 – 11

One of Florida’s most diverse music festivals returns to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in Downtown Tampa this March, and boasts a fantastically appealing lineup.  We highlight our five can’t miss bands, but there’s not a weak act in the lineup’s first ten acts (more to be released soon).

(in alphabetical order)

Father John Misty – Josh Tillman is Father John Misty and he’s quite the celebrated live performer.  I characterize the luscious sound of Father John Misty as Indie Folk, but that encompasses many sounds/vibes.  I’ve never seen him live, but caught his show on ACL.  Backed by a large and talented band, it is one hell of a journey.

Kolars – I caught them in a small club just as they were starting out, and they blew me away.  Kolars are a husband-wife pairing with an innovative approach to creating compelling rock music. Rob Kolar is the guitarist-vocalist with a definite rockabilly flair, while Lauren Brown adds some of the most creative percussion I have ever seen.  You will go home talking about this act…Guaranteed.

Mondo Cozmo – I think this band could be the future of Alternative rock.  Josh Ostrander writes infectious, invigorating music built for widespread radio appeal, but Mondo Cozmo sounds even better live.  It’s perfect in a festival setting and this will be a chance to catch them before everyone else in the world knows how talented they are.

The Roots – They’re hip-hop legends turned late night house band, and they just ooze with talent.  The Philly natives have collaborated with a who’s who of music legends, because their diverse and creative as hell.

Spoon – Nine albums over two decades and nary a song that sounds alike.  This band is the quintessentially creative indie rock act with a constantly metamorphosing sound, but the music and lyrics are always compelling and insightful.
