EDBD 25 Lineup is Stacked

Five Can’t Miss Earthday Birthday 25 Artists

The 2018 incarnation of 101.1 WJRR’s Earthday Birthday boasts a killer line-up, including three headline worthy bands in Shinedown, Seether and Three Days Grace.  Aside from those big three, the entire day is highlighted by hard-driving, thunderous rock ‘n roll.

Here’s a quick look at five of the talented bands from deeper into the EDBD 25 Lineup that we won’t be missing:

Thoughtful, meaningful hard rock with a wee bit of progressive mixed in.  Their lyrics are hopeful and poignant and the musicianship is great.  They have a great reputation for their live shows and the music off of their latest, Gone, should sound great at EDBD25.

Dead Girls Academy

Their lead singer’s last name is Orlando, so Orlando’s Central Florida Fairgrounds is the perfect venue for these Las Vegas rockers.  The hard-edged pop-punkers have only been together a year, but are already making an impact on the rock scene.

These guys emerged from the Ft. Lauderdale metal scene 20 years ago, and have become a solid rhythmic rock band. Make no mistake about it, though, the band is heavy and powerful. Led by original lead singer Elias Soriano, Nonpoint always delivers a high-energy and passionate set.

10 Years

Distinctive, melodic alt-metal make this Tennessee quintet one of the most appealing bands at EDBD25.  They’ve been around since 1999, but I still haven’t caught them live.  I’m interested to hear how vocalist Jesse Hasek’s vice translates live.  He’s got a wonderful voice that reminds me a bit of Tool’s Maynard James Kennan.

Powerman 5000

Lead singer Spider One is the younger brother of Rob Zombie, and you’ll find a lot of similarities between the two industrial metal sounds.  Critics love to bust on them for failing to change with the times, but does anyone care what critics think?  Never seen them before but they have the reputation as a fun live band…
