Revamped Big Ticket Comes to Jax

Great Lineup and New Venue Highlight the Return of The Big Ticket

We missed The Big Ticket last year, and are so happy it is back in 2017.  This year’s event headlined by The Lumineers promises to be the premier Alt-Rock event of the year in the Sunshine State, and local fans only have a few weeks to wait.

For the first time since we’ve been covering the Florida rock scene,  The Big Ticket moves indoors to the Jacksonville Veterans Coliseum.  X102.9’s signature event takes place on Friday, December 1st with a slimmed down, yet stacked line-up.

We’ll have a nonstop parade of Alt-rock stalwarts taking the stage, including The Lumineers, Walk The Moon, Bleachers, Andrew McMahon in The Wilderness, Saint Motel, New Politics & Mondo Cozmo.  That my friends, is one hell of a schedule.

We’ve covered many of these bands before and can tell you that attendees are in for a slew of killer performances throughout the day.  Everyone knows the headliners, but make sure you catch early bands like New Politics, Saint Motel and Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness as they deliver fun, engaging sets.

I’ve seen five of the seven artists, and all of them are excellent live.  New Politics, our friends from Denmark are one of the most dynamic live acts on the planet.  Effervescent front man David Boyd is one of the most energetic and charismatic performers you will ever see, and their music is excellent, as well.

I’m also excited about the venue change. No more risk of rain, cold, or even those occasional sweltering December days Orlando is known for.  Instead, we’ll be in the climate controlled arena, enjoying all of the bands on one stage.
