SOTD: The Classic Crime – Holy Water
After a five year hiatus, Seattle-based The Classic Crime are back with a vibrant, hopeful new track. “Holy Water” is the first track off of their forthcoming album How To Be Human. If “Holy Water” is a sign of what is in store on the album, we are all in for a treat.
The music is tight and well-produced. The pristine drums provide a solid backbone to the song, while the bass and guitar cleverly weave their way through the track. Matt McDonald’s voice seems young and vibrant, but his lyrics offer the perspective of a writer who has truly experienced life and understands his place in the universe.
Matt McDonald: “I’m not very good at being vulnerable with people, so writing songs is how I express what I’ve been protecting. A lot has happened. Some of us got married, had kids, started businesses, moved around. But when change happens, I tend to write it down.”
