The Virginmarys Eat Across the USA

The Virginmarys Interview

dividesThe Virginmarys have created a distinctive recipe for tasty rock music with a solid base of heavy rock ‘n roll, a heaping serving of punk angst and a dash of British snarl. As they just wrapped up a tour of the United States, we asked them if they could share some of their recommendations for can’t miss food joints across the Southern United States.

Load up a copy of their excellent 2016 release, Divides and dig into a fun article with tasty recommendations from one of today’s hottest rock bands.

Whataburger – Tyler TX

We were told by Paul from Crobot that we MUST have the honey butter chicken biscuit from Whataburger in Texas before we leave. After waiting in sheer anticipation the first time, only to be let down in finding out that they only serve them for breakfast, we later found out that the breakfast menu starts at 11pm. Don’t ask me. Together with Crobot we stopped at Whataburger after the last show of the tour for a celebratory Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit or several,,, and yes, they really are that good.  Perfect way to end the tour.

Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt, Atlanta, GA:

The place is called Daddy D’z and they do great BBQ food…there’s not much more I can really say about this place. Well worth a look if you’re in Atlanta. So good, Danny bought a t-shirt!

The Virginmarys

BYOB, Birmingham, AL

Steve (the promoter of the show) wanted to take us out to dinner before the gig and this was his local place, just across the road from him.  Great burgers and renowned for many musical clientele. There was also live music, which is always a bonus.

Lucy’s Coffee and Tea, Birmingham, AL

Really nice vibe and  we chilled out. Ace service and amazing iced coffee. We got there after food so we couldn’t eat but the menu looked great, and judging by the amount of regulars that were there they must be doing something right!

Liuzza’s by the Track, New Orleans, LA

This was recommended to us by the person we rented our AirBnB and we weren’t disappointed. They sell Po Boys, Creole Gumbo and their signature dish (BBQ Shrimp Po Boy) which were all amazing! Just check it out.

Next time you’re in any of these cities grab a bite at one of these cool joints and in the meantime, grab Divides on iTunes, or at least check out our Spotify playlist “RARAs Play It Loud” linked below which includes a few cuts from The Virginmarys.
