“Ron Gallo is a rock and roll trio lead by a tall, big-haired weirdo of the same name.” Ron Gallo also makes some damn good, albeit a bit weird, rock ‘n roll that deserves a trip or two through your headphones.
I didn’t come up with that opening quote. Nope, believe it or not, that was in the press release for Ron Gallo’s new single “Put the Kids To Bed.” That unusual write-up caught my attention and now I’m absolutely hooked by this “weirdo’s” distinctive brand of rock.
Gallo, the former Toy Soldiers front man is supporting the forthcoming release of his second solo LP, Heavy Meta. After a spontaneous thirty minute detour into Gallo’s Youtube library, I can’t wait to hear the album.
His voice is uniquely captivating in a Warren Zevon meets Alex Turner kind of way, and his vocals dominate the invigorating alt-rocker. The music is catchy as hell, highlighted by piercing guitar riffs, soulful bass, bouncy drums and clever vocals. It’s an infectious song that I just can’t get off of repeat – my favorite track of the year so far – check it out and see what you think.
As a bonus, below the post, I’ve embedded a YouTube link for another new single from the forthcoming album, “Young Lady You’re Scaring Me.”
